RSS Feed (Really Simple Syndication)

What is RSS?

RSS is an abbreviation for really simple syndication or rich site summary. RSS is an easy way to distribute a list of headlines, update notices, and sometimes content to a wide number of people. It is used by computer programmes that organise those headlines and notices for easy reading.

RSS works by having the Web site author maintain a list of notifications on their Web site in a standard way. This list of notifications is called an "RSS Feed". People who are interested in finding out the latest headlines or changes can check this list.

Making RSS work!

  1. Download and install one of the freeware RSS programmes you can find on the Web.
    », Active Web Reader Windows
    », FeedExplorer Windows
    », FeedReader Windows
    », BottomFeeder Windows | Mac | Unix | Linux
    », NewsReader Mac
  2. Select the category from the RSS list on the top right hand corner.
», Right click on the category.
    », Select Copy shortcut.
», Paste the shortcut on the address bar of your RSS programme.

Select category
Right click on one of the category links and then copy-paste the link location into the address bar of your RSS feeder
